Our mission is to empower families through expert guidance, clear explanations, and ethical consultation—helping them understand assessments, participate effectively in IEP processes, and advocate for appropriate services.

Our vision is a special education system where every student receives appropriate, equitable, and meaningful support based on their individual needs.

Dear Families,

My name is Alex Miranda, and I want to personally thank you for taking the time to be here. Seeking support in special education often means you are advocating for a child you care deeply about, and I recognize how important—and sometimes overwhelming—that journey can be.

I began my career as a School Psychologist with the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE), where I spent five years working in juvenile halls. In these highly structured and challenging environments, I supported students with significant academic, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. This experience strengthened my understanding of trauma-informed practices, emotional regulation, behavioral assessment, and the importance of individualized, meaningful educational supports.

Following my work in juvenile halls, I spent six years supporting students with mild to severe disabilities in various unified school districts, including Diamond Bar, Walnut Valley, Bonita (San Dimas), Long Beach, Azusa, Baldwin Park, Charter Oak, Covina-Valley, and Pomona. During this time, I conducted comprehensive psychological assessments, participated in IEP teams, collaborated with multidisciplinary staff, and supported families navigating eligibility, services, and educational planning for students with a wide range of learning, emotional, and developmental needs.

After my tenure with the county, I worked for over 10 years with Almoso Educational Services providing school psychologist services across multiple districts, including Pico Rivera Unified School District, Santa Paula Unified School District, Mojave Unified School District, and several charter schools in Los Angeles County and San Diego County, such as Bella Mente Montessori. This role allowed me to work across different district cultures and service models, further strengthening my ability to identify strengths, gaps, and inconsistencies in assessments and IEP documentation.

As a School Psychologist in California, I have worked closely with students, families, and school teams, and I understand how complex psychological assessments and IEP documents can be. Reports are often filled with technical language, scores, and conclusions that are not always clearly explained. My goal is to help you make sense of this information, understand what it truly means for your child, and feel confident as you move forward.

Through Almoso Educational Services, I offer independent, thoughtful reviews of psychological assessments and IEP documents, including initial evaluations, triennial assessments, addendums, and annual reviews. My work is consultative and family-centered, focused on clarity, accuracy, and identifying whether your child’s educational needs are being fully and appropriately addressed.  Across all settings, my work has consistently focused on ensuring that evaluations are thorough, conclusions are data-driven, and recommendations truly reflect each student’s needs. This broad experience—spanning juvenile justice settings, public school districts, and charter schools—gives me a unique and informed perspective when reviewing special education assessments and IEPs for families.

I believe families deserve clear explanations, honest feedback, and practical guidance. Every child is unique, and every educational plan should reflect that. My commitment is to approach each review with professionalism, care, and respect for your child’s strengths, challenges, and potential.

Thank you for trusting me to be part of your journey. I look forward to supporting you as you advocate for the services and supports your child deserves.

Warm regards.

Alex Miranda
